Welcome to the very first Elementary Librarian podcast! In this episode, I discuss why I started my website, what I'm working on this summer, and upcoming plans for the podcast.
Each podcast will have its own show notes, so you'll be able to easily find information discussed on the show without having to write anything down. You'll find this especially useful if you listen to podcasts on the go, like I do.
If you're not familiar with podcasts, they are very easy to use. The easiest way to listen is to click the play button on my website. You can also download the podcast to mobile devices. If you have an Apple device, the show will be available on iTunes as soon as it's approved. You can even subscribe on iTunes, which means your device can automatically download every episode. If you have an Android device, you can download the podcast directly from my website by long pressing on the MP3 file and choosing download (or Save Link As...). The Elementary Librarian podcast will also be available on Stitcher.
If you need additional help, I've found a few sites that may be useful:

If you have trouble accessing the podcast after trying these methods, you can contact me and I'll try to help.

I am loving this resource! I'm in a K-8 library and I also teach 3 hours of other classes daily plus I'm a busy mom to 4 darlings. I've really struggled with the feeling that I can't do justice to both teaching the outside classes and the library--it felt like one area was suffering and in my case that was my library with messy shelves and unprocessed books. I'm thankful for seeing that I'm not the only librarian out there with these issues.
I would love to see future webcasts about how librarians are using iPads/iPods in their library and one about creating book trailers.

Very helpful podcast with some good ideas. I'm SO grateful for Jocelyn's lesson plans as I begin a new chapter to my grade 7-12 job AND a K-4 librarian. I think a library policies template would be a good idea for Jocelyn to add as a resource, using her own as a guide? The school librarian profession may be evolving but in my state, it seems to be "consolidating"--covering more than one school or becoming part-time librarian.

Thank you for everything! I am a 22 year veteran teacher, but have been a PreK-3 Librarian for 4 years. Your website, resources and blog have been invaluable tools. My district eliminated the library assistant position this school year so I really need all the help I can get!

This is definitely a website like none other.. I too am in a k-5 school, I teach RtI every morning for 30 minutes. I also do not have an assistant and rely on the help of volunteer students and parents. The podcast really helped me feel like I know who you are now. Thanks!

Thanks, Sue! I appreciate your kind words. It's nice to know we're not alone.
