Our Member of the Month for April is Kelly Sapp. Kelly works at Tucker Elementary in Perry, GA. She has been a school librarian for seven years.
We asked Kelly some questions about her experience as a school librarian and we would like to share them with you.
What's your favorite thing about your job as a school librarian?
My favorite thing about being a school librarian is getting to read the many books to the students every day. Seeing the joy on their faces as they connect to the stories is priceless.
Name one children's book that you couldn't live without in your library.
Berenstain Bears series connects to all students
Tell us why you decided to join the Elementary Librarian Community. What's your favorite thing about it?
I decided to join Elementary Librarian Community because of the lesson plans. They are awesome. They fit perfectly with what I want to do with everything readily available.
What's the biggest challenge you're currently facing when it comes to your school library?
I am part of specials and can not do all the tings I want to do in the library.
If you could give one piece of advice to a brand new school librarian (or someone considering becoming a school librarian), what would it be?
Book talks are the pathway to a student's mind and heart. Do them so they know they have options with books.
