Fourth grade students face more challenging texts. They also should read a range of fiction and non-fiction texts.
By this level, students are expected to go beyond basic recall. By the end of the year, they should be able to look at author's choices, make inferences, and draw conclusions from texts. In addition, they begin to deepen their research skills.
