Librarians, teachers and writers have a relationship they may or may not be aware about - their love for books.
I read in this article how Forbes’ highest paid and best selling author, James Patterson, had set up a $1.75 million grant that would benefit school libraries nationwide.
Patterson’s School Library Campaign launched last year in partnership with the Scholastic Reading Club, whereby 452 schools throughout the country will be receiving grants ranging from $1,000 to $2,000. Scholastic also pledged to match “bonus points” for every dollar James had donated which can be used to buy additional learning tools and supplies.
Walnut Elementary School is one such recipient, their library received a $2,000 grant and will use it to launch an “E-bar” where students can read e-books using tablets and laptops inside the library.
It is noteworthy to share that Patterson’s mission is to draw people’s attention to focusing on the library’s vital role in children’s lives.
Now, when a highly acclaimed author steps up to defend the library’s part in the school system, we are only so thrilled to accept his sentiments and continue to serve the community the best way we know how -- to keep the doors open.
Do you know any James Patterson novels? If not, who is your favorite author? Post your thoughts in the comments section and let the sharing commence 🙂
