Today's Member of the Week is Susan Giles. Susan works at West Side School in Greers Ferry, AR. She has been a school librarian for eighteen years.
We asked Susan some questions about her experience as a school librarian and we would like to share them with you.
What's your favorite thing about your job as a school librarian?
I love working with our students and talking books, but the icing on the cake, is when I've recommend a book and the student actually reads it, and he come back later and wants another book!!!!
Name one children's book that you couldn't live without in your library.

Tell us why you decided to join the Elementary Librarian Community. What's your favorite thing about it?
I am the only Media Specialist in our district so I when I can, I like to connect with others in my field! When I came across Elementary Librarian Community, I thought what better way to connect with other. The lesson plans and other ideas I gotten have been great!!!! Thank You!!!
What's the biggest challenge you're currently facing when it comes to your school library?
Scheduling!!!! Finding the time for administration work, make out lessons plans, do my elem. classes, and help my teachers????
If you could give one piece of advice to a brand new school librarian (or someone considering becoming a school librarian), what would it be?
Just remember that things don't always go as planned! It's ALWAYS about your students!!! Love Them!!

Hi Susan!
I'm the librarian at the Norphlet campuses of the Smackover-Norphlet School District. Do you know Bro. Doug Inzer and his family? He used to be my pastor and I love that family! They live in Greers Ferry now and he is the pastor of a church there.
Happy New Year!
