Today's Member of the Month is Dawn Jordan. Dawn works at Ruth Cherry Intermediate in Royse City, TX. She has been a school librarian for 2 years.
We asked Dawn some questions about her experience as a school librarian and we would like to share them with you.
What's your favorite thing about your job as a school librarian?
I enjoy getting to work with all of the students in the school rather than just my classroom of students. It gives me an opportunity to try to make a difference for all of our student body.
Name one children's book that you couldn't live without in your library.
Any Gary Paulsen book
Tell us why you decided to join the Elementary Librarian Community. What's your favorite thing about it?
I joined Elementary Librarian to be have access to resources to help me be a better librarian.
What's the biggest challenge you're currently facing when it comes to your school library?
If you could give one piece of advice to a brand new school librarian (or someone considering becoming a school librarian), what would it be?
My biggest challenge is getting the teachers to utilize the library for their students and to take time out of their instruction time to bring the students to the library.
