Elementary Librarian's lesson plans have been designed to align with both the Common Core State Standards for English/Language Arts and the AASL National School Library Standards. Standards can be found on individual lesson plans for grades K-12, as well as part of our mini lesson packs.
Common Core State Standards
Although our lessons are not designed to provide comprehensive coverage of the Common Core English/Language Arts standards, they cover a range of standards related to reading, writing, and speaking and listening skills. These lessons work well as a supplement the regular language arts curriculum. They also give librarians the opportunity to collaborate with regular classroom teachers.
Use the Elementary Librarian Common Core Alignment document to see exactly how our lessons align to the standards.
AASL National School Library Standards
In November 2018, the AASL updated the National School Library Standards to increase rigor and reflect the ever-changing technology landscape. We, in turn, updated our lessons to reflect the new standards.
Learn more about how our lessons align to these standards through the AASL Standards Alignment document.
