Even though this was briefly mentioned in Tuesday's podcast, I wanted to write about it to remind people to help the Cambridge, Massachusetts community out!
I got an email a couple of weeks ago from school librarian Liz Phipps-Soeiro. She has started a Kickstarter Campaign to deliver books via bicycle during her school's summer vacation. Instead of borrowing the books and returning them, this traveling book collection will deliver books to kids, and the books are theirs forever!
I loved this idea so much, I decided to speak to Liz about it (and other ways to connect school libraries with the community) on my podcast. I love her passion about getting books in kids' hands over the summer. The good news is that the original fundraising goal has already been met! Liz says that they can still use extra funds to buy additional bikes and books. Want to help? Check out the campaign by clicking here! The deadline is March 20.
