Today's Member of the Week is Linda LaFrance. Linda works at Henderson Ward Stewart Elementary in Starkville, MS. She has been a school librarian for 9 years.
We asked Linda some questions about her experience as a school librarian and we would like to share them with you.
What's your favorite thing about your job as a school librarian?
My favorite thing about being a school librarian is getting to interact and develop relationships with all of our students and not just a handful.
Name one children's book that you couldn't live without in your library.
Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus
Tell us why you decided to join the Elementary Librarian Community. What's your favorite thing about it?
My favorite thing about the Elementary Librarian Community is the sharing of resources and lessons.
What's the biggest challenge you're currently facing when it comes to your school library?
If you could give one piece of advice to a brand new school librarian (or someone considering becoming a school librarian), what would it be?
My one piece of advice for a new school librarian is to get the Elementary Librarian lesson subscription. It is a complete life saver!
We recently had to absorb another library in the district so my biggest challenge right now is cataloging all of their books into our library, while still serving our 1200 students.
