I've used several of her ideas, and plan to implement a few more. I'm concerned because I'm going to have over 1100 K-6 students in September, and I only work 25 hours a week. My principal tells me to just get more parent helpers to shelve books and do book checkin/checkout. That's a great idea, but quite often the books are shelved incorrectly. I guess I need to train them better! But then there is the issue of patron privacy, so do I want parents looking and knowing what books other kids have checked out, or knowing a certain child has overdue books or lost book fines and then gossiping to other parents or worse, telling their own children?

Great ideas. I really love the poker chip idea. I am always looking for a positive rewards for good behavior.

A good podcast with some helpful tips. I'm just grateful for Jocelyn's lesson plans as I begin this new chapter in my career as a K-6 AND 7-12 librarian. Jocelyn--it might be helpful to add a "procedure binder" template to your resources page?

Thanks for this upbeat podcast. I am going to start working on my procedure binder this week.
