Today's Member of the Week is Vicky Chang. Vicky works at Las Colinas Elementary in Irving, TX. She has been a school librarian for 4 years.
We asked Vicky some questions about her experience as a school librarian and we would like to share them with you.
What's your favorite thing about your job as a school librarian?
I like that I can adapt my lesson to the needs of the students, that flexibility is more desirable than the classroom teachers. I also like that I get to work with different grade levels and it's very fulfilling to see growth in the students throughout the years!
Name one children's book that you couldn't live without in your library.

Tell us why you decided to join the Elementary Librarian Community. What's your favorite thing about it?
I joined the Elementary Librarian Community to pick brains from others. I am trying to move from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset by listening to others and learning from others.
What's the biggest challenge you're currently facing when it comes to your school library?
Scheduling groups has been my biggest challenge since I am at an IB school and we have a separate PE program where almost every teacher's schedule is segmented that it's a challenge to schedule classes to come to the library without messing up the schedules for teachers.
If you could give one piece of advice to a brand new school librarian (or someone considering becoming a school librarian), what would it be?
You can do it and you will absolutely love it!
