Today's Member of the Week is Brenda Rogers. Brenda works at Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial in Lake Crystal, Minnesota. She has been a school librarian for four years.
We asked Brenda some questions about her experience as a school librarian and we would like to share them with you.
What's your favorite thing about your job as a school librarian?
I get to see and impact the learning of every student grades K-6 in my building every week.
Name one children's book that you couldn't live without in your library.
I Wish You More
Tell us why you decided to join the Elementary Librarian Community. What's your favorite thing about it?
I enjoy learning from other Librarians. Libraries have taken such a dramatic turn in the last few years and I want to keep up with all the new things that others are experiencing and creating.
What's the biggest challenge you're currently facing when it comes to your school library?
Trying to fit all the new, innovative, and fun things into the library curriculum.
If you could give one piece of advice to a brand new school librarian (or someone considering becoming a school librarian), what would it be?
Make sure you have your seat belt on, it's going to be a bumpy , thrilling, up and down ride .
